Nap / Rest Workshops

An invitation...

You deserve rest.

You deserve care.

You deserve space to simply exist, without expectation.

Rest as a Pathway to Healing

Black women carry a unique and often invisible weight shaped by systemic inequities, generational trauma, and the ongoing demands of navigating daily life in a world that rarely makes space for rest.

Our Community Nap/Rest Workshops are designed to gently interrupt that cycle.

These workshops offer a dedicated, restorative space where rest is not earned, it is honored.

Space to Slow Down and Restore

Each healing circle is intentionally created to support Black women in stepping out of survival mode and into a space of care, reflection, and renewal. This is a space where you are not defined by productivity, expectations, or roles you carry for others. Instead, you are invited to simply be- to rest, to breathe, and to reconnect with yourself.

Our Approach

Led by Keyonia Williams, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience supporting the Black community, these workshops are grounded in:

  • Afrocentric philosophy and culturally rooted healing practices

  • A person-centered and holisitc approach

  • The “Rest Is Resistance” framework developed by Tricia Hersey

  • The foundational teachings of bell hooks and Audre Lorde

Together, these elements create a holistic and deeply affirming experience centered on humanity, dignity, and restoration.

What to Expect

Sessions may include:

  • Guided rest and restorative practices

  • Breathwork and gentle movement

  • Meditation and grounding exercises

  • Conversations around stress, trauma, and healing

  • Nourishment through foods that support wellness

  • Connection within a supportive community

  • Why Rest Matters

Chronic stress, especially when compounded by systemic, historical, and generational trauma, can have lasting impacts on mental, emotional, and physical health.

Simply Nap Without Expectation

These workshops are designed to:

  • Reduce stress and support nervous system regulation

  • Reframe rest as a necessary and powerful form of self-preservation

  • Challenge cultural narratives that glorify exhaustion

  • Support sustainable, daily wellness practices

Program Structure

  • Small group setting (up to 10 participants per cohort)

  • Facilitated by experienced practitioners holding intentional, supportive space

  • Pre- and post-session reflections to support growth and integration

  • Community-Centered Healing

This program is made possible through grant funding, allowing participants to attend at no cost. We are proud to collaborate with Black-owned businesses to expand the healing experience, offering access to services such as massage therapy, somatic practices, and other culturally rooted modalities.

This work not only supports individual healing, but also reinvests in the broader community.
