About Keyonia

Keyonia Williams, LCSW

Founder & CEO

Healing Black Souls LLC

My name is Keyonia Williams, and I am originally from Newark, New Jersey. It was there that I grew, learned, and developed a strong cultural identity and deep sense of Black pride. From a very young age, I knew I wanted to do work that would enrich my community. I have always had a passion for serving underserved and underprivileged communities, which ultimately led me to pursue a career in social work. I graduated from Walla Walla University in 2008 with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and in 2009 with a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work.

I have spent the past 17 years working as a Social Worker in a variety of roles. I have provided home visiting services to families involved with the Department of Human Services, supporting them in developing the skills needed to become self-sufficient and independent. I have also worked as a foster home advocate, managing and licensing foster and adoptive homes, and conducting home studies for international adoptions. Additionally, I have taught parenting classes and provided individual coaching for parents of young children.

As a mental health therapist, I have provided psychotherapy services to individuals and families navigating trauma, abuse, and addiction. I have also facilitated trauma recovery groups. My clinical strengths include working with individuals experiencing depression, PTSD, anxiety, grief and loss, parenting challenges, identity crisis, and low self-esteem.

In addition to my clinical work, I have served as an adjunct professor and curriculum developer, and I bring extensive knowledge and training in Afrocentric and liberatory practices and frameworks, as well as early childhood mental health consultation. I have published several articles highlighting the importance of representation in early childhood classrooms for Black children and the development of positive Black identity.

I currently specialize in Afrocentric and liberatory coaching and consulting for individuals, families, groups, and organizations. I believe deeply in the power of change, which continues to motivate my work. My goal is to serve my community by educating, supporting, and enriching others so they can reach their full potential.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling throughout the Caribbean, reading, resting, and making memories with my girls.
